“A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective.”
– Irving Penn
I spent my younger years working at the Disneyland Report in California. Watching families making magical, life-altering, precious memories every day. Often, I would see a family taking a photo together, well almost together, mom or dad would be behind the camera and rest of the family posing for the photo. I would step in and say “Here, let me take that for you. Let’s get the whole family in the photo!” – I guess you can say that is when I fell in love with photography. In college I studied Information technology and joined the Photography Club. My love for the bobby only grew stronger.
I’ve always hard a soft spot for air planes and our service men and women. I went to the Miramar Air Show in San Diego, CA almost every year with my dad. I would look forward to the show every year, and always take my camera with me to see if I could capture some photos of the US Navy’s Blue Angels as they passed by at 500mph.
In 2016 I purchased my first drone, DJI Phantom 4, and took my photography to new heights, pun intended. Combining my love for flying with my love for photography, I knew this was meant to be. To sell any images or video taken from a drone, one must be a FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot. I knew this was something I needed to do. I studied hard for about a month and passed the exam on the first try.
In 2018 I decided it was time for a better quality of life for my family. Southern California is great, but not where I wanted my kids to grow up any longer. I also needed a place where I could focus on my Aerial Photography; which was almost impossible in Los Angeles. We made the move to Show Low, Arizona – and haven’t looked back since.
